![]() I wonder if they do this under the guise of other companies, or if these foreign thieves actually work for McAfee. Is he crazy? He clearly uses this routinely to gain access to everything on our computers - which is a brilliant ROBBERY scam that they create by sending these horrid 'auto-renew' bills to people. So now I'm looking at the Anydesk website, which screams "ACCESS NOW", and there is no way I will download this known-thief's software that give him access to my company computers. He wanted me to do it with him on the phone - immediately - to make sure I reached them OK. The manager immediately told me to download to my system, and ONLY THEN could he send me their 'cancellation form' to fill out and return to cancel my account. I demanded to talk to the McAfee legal department, and they agreed I could talk to a manager. They could not name which equipment or company they were referring to. They gave me the usual runaround, saying I ordered it with my computer company (I did not) when I bought my equipment. I have never bought McAfee and could not find any evidence of McAfee, so I called them up and told them to cancel. ![]() (The fact that their email gave me their phone # should have been a clue that I was being played, but I just freaked out). ![]() Today I received an email from an overseas company (sounded like a call center in India) that said they were McAfee and that they were charging me $399 for the auto-renewal today.
